I had the pleasure of designing the layout and print materials for Recipes for the New Earth by plant-based chef, activist, and author Olga Sadowski.

This cookbook is a transformative guide to spiritual and political practices through food, emphasizing plant-based eating that honors the Earth, community, and the sacredness of life. The design complements the book’s mission to inspire readers to reclaim their individual responsibility for the land and the co-creation of a better world. It was a privilege to create a design that supports such a meaningful message.

Print Design

With the layout of the book, I developed a unique set of symbols to enhance the reader's experience. These icons identify key elements of the recipes, such as nightshade ingredients or high-vibrancy foods, making the book both visually engaging and highly functional. Breaking from tradition, the recipes are not arranged alphabetically but instead follow the natural rhythm of a day, progressing from sunrise to sunset. This thematic ordering reflects the book’s holistic approach to life and eating. A playful feature runs along the pages — a flipbook animation of the sun traveling from top to bottom. This element adds an unexpected delight for the reader.
